American Handball dans les rues de New-York.

À New York, dans East Village entre Houston et 1st Ave, rencontre inattendue avec John « Rookie » Wright. Ce dernier est le joueur numéro 1 de Handball américain ou Street Peaume  aux Etats-Unis, donc au monde. Sport alliant Handball et Tennis en passe de devenir une discipline olympique.    (Wikipédia)

Beaucoup pensent que le handball américain a été apporté aux États-Unis par les immigrants irlandais dans les années 1880, le handball gaélique dont il est proche, étant joué depuis le XVe siècle en Irlande et en Écosse. Mais la pelote basque, pratiquée dans le Pays basque est un jeu aussi très similaire.

Bio : John “Rookie” Wright is a one-wall handball player from New York City. He surprised the handball community by winning the 2001 ICHA Mayor’s Cup singles championship. Followed up with a close semifinal loss, in the singles, and doubles championship at the 2001 USHA Nationals. John “Rookie” Wright is winner of the first USHA National Big Ball Championship (2008).Rookie also went on to become the 2-time Skybounce championship winner, and also a 2-time USHA Big Blue Nationals champion.
