Citizens want to discuss more than they have been able to discuss before. My name is Bjon Ba. I'm the deputy director at the Danish Board of Technology. We are very good at constructing uh and designing uh longer uh policy advice processes that include both citizens, stakeholders, experts, and decision makers. democratic uh innovation democracy is is definitely in danger and has always been and it's always you know
shifting moving shifting shape but I mean I think for for a long period of time definitely in Europe you know it it's been taken for granted and and now we see that it's slowly being eroded it. The challenge is to take all these methods we have for increased deliberation and introduce them at strategic uh places in the deliberative democratic system. I fear that you know that centralization
will still be the main development. I I think you will see attempts to to uh to include citizens in policy debates, but uh I fear they will not be genuine and I fear that the tendency towards close decision making will will increase at the national and European level. But there's a growing realization probably hopefully that democracy is something you have to keep alive every day and that
you have to fight for every day. It cannot be taken for granted.
