Yago Bermejo Abati fait partie de Democracy R&D, le réseau international des organisations qui inventent et expérimentent la démocratie délibérative, le tirage au sort et les assemblées citoyennes. Lors de la rencontre du réseau, nous avons demandé à chacune et chacun de raconter son engagement et de définir la démocratie en quelques mots-clés, pour composer une série de portraits qui dessine la démocratie de demain.

Your daily life experience is crucial for democratic decision making. I'm Jago Berno. I'm coming from Madrid city council. Uh I work in a lab we call media labrado and I'm run a project that is called participal lab. I am a project manager. So I try to figure out new ways of uh doing things and also diagnosis about processes, new prototypes to experiment with new formats of participatory
democracy. Forward to the people, deliberation, collective intelligence, equality, inclusion, diversity, sort, direct democracy, collaboration, experimentation. Democracy is the power of the people to to to give this uh a concrete uh meaning. We need to prove that uh people are taking decisions really. So uh we need new uh new new paths, new way uh to allow citizens take decisions and really prove that we are in a democracy.
We are really searching for alternatives to the uh usual uh systemic representative uh system and we are trying to prove that we can take decisions in a different way with common citizens and what is new is that we have new uh technologies we love to say deliberative technologies that allow common people to take intelligent decisions. I believe that in some countries, regions or cities, we will have
uh new governments with uh uh with concrete um parts of their budgets and of their policies controlled directly by citizens to have a complete system controlled by direct uh citizen participation. We need to wake up and people common people also need to wake up and demand new uh structures to take decisions collectively.
