[00:17] I can think going back when I was a small boy growing up at America and Russia were concerned about nuclear uh bombs wiping us out that was a real threat but I think in our heart of hearts we probably knew in the end of the day the powers would hold back on the brink now there may be no Brink climate change may actually happen unless we actually take action to stop it the end of the world is a possibility in fact probably the first time it could be a actual reality I'm very involved in the campaigns against airport expansion and one of the reasons for that is that Aviation is the fastest growing uh contributor to climate change uh worldwide and unless something is done about it uh then we are there's going to be real
[01:24] problems but I don't see campaigning as a burden I don't see campaigning as something I've feel I've got to do something that's dull is actually hugely challenging it's hugely exciting because there's a real possibility as a campaigner I can make a difference to be a campaigner can be very stressful it can be very difficult above all perhaps it could be frustrating because you actually feel you're not getting anywhere you feel that the the authorities are against you you feel that Global policy is against you that's very true but at the same time if it was just frustrating I wouldn't be at it 25 years later the impact of the when I was involved in the anti-roads movement in the 1990s I think that was quite significant because we did bring about a
[02:27] fundamental change in uh roads policy in the UK uh before the 1990s uh Building New Roads was the way forward government saw it h for uh transport policy in Britain after the huge protest which we were involved in that's no longer the case of course there are roads being built but the uh things have been turned around and that was hugely exciting and that's the sort of thing I would like to be involved in now as far as airports are concerned organize I think we can make change happen I think climate change is the trigger for that change to happen but I don't think it'll happen without some sort of organization yes we do all have to think about making individual changes to our lives but I think that on its own is not
[03:25] enough I think there needs to be organization there needs to be campaigning there needs to be mobilization of movements and I actually believe that every single one of us can do that um Joseph Mourinho calls himself as a manager of Chelsea the special one now I don't think any of us need to be the special one in order to do campaigning i' would like to see a very different world I would like to see a world that is not uh threatening to implode on itself because of climate change I want to see a world where people are put first where the planet is put first uh where we can where we live not in a kind of globalized rat race but in local communities where we are uh reacting well with each other and where we are not uh spoiling the planet
[04:32] the biggest threat is bringing the biggest opportunity for Change and that is hugely exciting
