some Lucas boooo and I'm the CEO and founder of crowd flower which is a startup based out of San Francisco so what crowd flora does is provides what we call labor on demand so we take simple tasks we call the micro tasks right so an example might be is this picture copyright violation and we get hundreds of thousands of pictures and people want to know is it

a copyright violation or not and we send them out all around the world iphone doesn't have very many charitable apps so if you want to do if you look at there's like a million games on the iphone right and if you think about it i mean some of my friends that make iphone games they've said to me people have played five hundred thousand hours in total right

all the different people playing my game right 500,000 hours or a million hours right one guy said I've reached the 200 the 2000 year mark in my game which is like 2,000 total year spent on it right and these tasks aren't that different than a game but they actually add value to the world right they help a company that needs the information they help a worker in

a refugee camp that can really use the work so I really like the concept of taking idle time that people have in turning into something useful and I think you'll see this transformation of why do we build these boxes to put workers in right like why build a box in a computer and the phone and all these things people can work anywhere now I mean if you

have internet and a computer I mean you can do many many types of important work you can help the world in a economically justifiable way like the free market would do this right so which I think makes it much more sustainable right because we have we're not giving money to people right we have real businesses that want this thing and so that'll continue forever right even in

a recession businesses actually want this want this work in donations aren't going to stop so I see a future where everyone has a job and everyone has access to the internet and computers and the chance to make a good life for themselves but when I met sama source I realized this is perfect because it's not just making money that we give to a worker it's actually helping

our system run better

Xavier Faltot

////// Xavier Faltot is a multimedia producer based in Berlin. For more than twenty years he has moved through radio, image and the web as a media mutant: he started out alongside artist Shu Lea Cheang, founded the Parisian web radio Radiomarais and spent some fifteen years running cultural venues such as la Station and le Consulat, blending art, technology, cinema and poetry. A pioneer of creative uses of the web, he now builds images, voices and custom instruments with artificial intelligence, such as TEXT OPERATOR and La Carte des fuites, designed to write Maison Fluid, his treatise on fluid parenting, out on 25 July 2027.
